Let Lee Andro Walk You Through The Making of “Woosah”

Lee Andro has weaved a little bit of everywhere he’s been into his debut offering. Titled Woosah, The EP was recorded and produced under lockdown in Thailand. He traces his journey from his birthplace in Maputo, Mozambique, to time spent in London and lastly (but not finally) finding himself in Asia as he wraps up his degree in Engineering.

The 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer lets me in on the fact that this project has been one big experiment for him, and one that he decided to conduct all by himself: “Woosah was produced and recorded this year in Thailand, it is a project which has no features, this is a first for me. The production itself was also a first for me,“ he shares.

In the span of 5 months, Lee Andro put together the 6 trucks that would make a pretty strong induction to the world of music. With standout tracks like “Hypocrite” and “Fall Away”, he says it’s just a taste of what’s to come.

A soul and r&b hybrid littered with bursts of strong lyricism, Woosah is delightfully difficult to place in one genre. For as many places as he’s been, Lee Andro is rooted in where he comes from. The exploitation of countries across the African continent, as well as a feeling of belonging, are two recurring themes in this project. Often masked by feel-good beats, Woosah demands a second listen-to really absorb the material. Run it back, would you?
